With iOS 8 unveiled, an iPhone 6 launch date set, and an iWatch waiting in the wings, Apple is now thought to have started up production on two new iPad models, both set to arrive before Christmas.
According to Bloomberg's sources, Apple has already started manufacturing the forthcoming 9.7-inch iPad, presumably the next generation of the iPad Air. The device should be unveiled by the end of this quarter or during the early part of the following one, Bloomberg reports. It adds that numbers of the larger model may be capped by "manufacturing complications related to the use of a new anti-reflection coating", intended to help readability in daylight.
Also on its way is a new 7.9-inch iPad mini, likely to be available by the end of the year.
The timing, if correct, shouldn't be a surprise, since it falls in line with the November timeframe for iPad releases that Apple moved to with the 2012 launch of the fourth-generation iPad and the first iPad Mini.
The next generation of iPads will however launch to a markedly different environment to previous years', following consecutive quarters of significant year-on-year declines. This year's third quarter iPad sales of 13.3 million were down nine percent from 14.6 million a year earlier, while the second quarter sales for 2014 fell 16 percent year to 16.35 million.
Tech analysts believe Android phablets are eating into tablet sales across the board; however, the decline in iPad sales has been bigger than many Wall Street analysts expected for Apple's second biggest product category behind the iPhone.
Apple chief exec Tim Cook has said he's not worried about soft iPad sales and has repeatedly pointed to the company's greater focus on the enterprise, where tablet penetration remains relatively low, and on China.
Declining tablet sales may also partly explain its recent tie-up with IBM aimed at bring more iPhone and iPad devices to the enterprise.
And if phablets are eating up tablet sales, Apple's 5.5-inch display iPhone 6 may help it take a slice of that market. Apple has reportedly set the product launch for 9 September.
Besides hardware though, iOS 8 is expected to be one of the biggest updates to its OS in recent years, addressing several gaps that have emerged between it and Android, including allowing third-party keyboards, widgets, and data-sharing between apps, which overall spell a less locked-down approach to iOS.
The Surface Pro 3 is a laptop replacement with an optional keyboard, at least according to ads from Microsoft. It’s thin and powerful and can take full advantage of the dual personality of Windows 8.1. These attributes make it a natural stretch to compare it to the thin laptop from Apple for those wondering which to buy. The choice may be easy for most prospective shoppers.
The MacBook Air is available in two sizes: 11.6 and 13.3 inches. Both are thin and light (2.38 and 2.96 pounds, respectively). They ship with Intel Core i5 processors and are available with Core i7 for extra cost. Both feature SSD storage, either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB (extra cost).
Screen size aside, the two MacBook Air models are very similar. Observations used in this article apply to both models except where indicated.

The hardware specs of the MacBook Airs are very similar to those of the Surface Pro 3. The primary differences are the inclusion of a touch screen and pen support on the Surface Pro 3. Neither are an option from Apple.
As indicated, the hardware of both the Surface Pro 3 and the MacBook Air is very similar. The display is the primary differentiator between the two contenders. Another obvious difference is the ability of the Surface Pro 3 to leave the keyboard cover behind and be used as a touch tablet. The MacBook Air has no touch screen option available so a big nod goes to Microsoft’s offering.
The much anticipated MacBook Air with a Retina Display hasn't happened yet, and while the displays look fine they fall short compared to the Surface Pro 3.
The advantage extends with pen support on the Surface Pro 3. Those wanting to use a pen for drawing or writing on the screen should forget the laptop from Apple.
The much anticipated MacBook Air with a Retina Display hasn't happened yet, and while the displays look fine they fall short compared to the Surface Pro 3. The 11-inch Air displays at 1,366 x 768 and the 13-inch model at 1,440 x 900.
The Surface Pro 3 displays a native resolution of 2,160 x 1,440 on its 12-inch screen. This is very high-resolution and could be important to some folks. That display size is slightly bigger than that of the smaller MacBook Air.
There are other slight differences between the MacBook Air and Surface Pro 3 but the display is the main one. The latter can also be used as a tablet while Apple's offering cannot.
Overall the nod goes to the Surface Pro 3 over the MacBook Air.
Software
Comparing the software on the two laptops is easy given the different platforms. This is probably more important than hardware when it comes to making a choice between the two laptops.
If you need or prefer to run OS X from Apple, get the MacBook Air. The opposite is mostly true for those wanting to run Windows. Those shoppers would be happier in the long run getting the Surface Pro 3.
The exception to the OS rule is that the MacBook Air can run Windows while the Surface Pro 3 cannot run OS X. Windows can be installed on Macs using either Boot Camp, a utility in OS X, or through a third-party solution like Parallels Desktop.
Parallels and other third-party apps run Windows (and other operating systems) in a virtual machine right on the Mac desktop. This works well with most applications (most games not included), and is particularly suitable for those preferring OS X but needing occasional use of Windows.
Those needing to use Microsoft Office can do that on the Surface Pro 3 and the MacBooks. Windows laptops no longer have a major advantage running Office as Macs can run it with Windows in a virtual machine as described. Office online can also be run on the Mac.
Since the choice of computing platform usually takes precedence over other factors, this is a tie between the Surface Pro 3 and the MacBook Air. A slight advantage could be with the Apple laptop since it can run both operating systems while the Surface Pro 3 cannot.
Price
For many, price is a big criteria when shopping for a laptop. To compare the two laptops, we'll look at the cheapest and the most expensive configurations.

Windows 8 in Business
Microsoft has painted bold design strokes with Windows 8, but the business impact remains hotly debated. ZDNet and TechRepublic have the enterprise and SMB perspectives on Windows 8 covered from virtually every angle.

11-inch MacBook Air — The price ranges from $899 (Core i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD) to $1,649 (Core i7, 8GB, 512GB SSD).
13-inch MacBook Air — The price ranges from $999 (Core i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD) to $1,749 (Core i7, 8GB, 512GB SSD).
Surface Pro 3 — The price range is $799 (Core i3, 4GB, 64GB SSD) to $1,949 (Core i7, 8GB, 512GB SSD).
Both laptops are similarly priced when you factor in the $130 keyboard for the Surface Pro 3 to turn it into a laptop replacement. Neither has a price advantage over the other.
Surface Pro 3 vs. MacBook Air
For most, the decision to purchase one laptop over another is straightforward. If you want to run Windows all the time, get the Surface Pro 3. The opposite is true if you prefer OS X. As noted, Macs can run Windows so a slight advantage goes to the laptop from Apple.
Those wanting or needing a touch screen laptop have only one choice when compared to the Macs — the Surface Pro 3. This isn't likely to change soon as Apple is in no hurry to get a MacBook Air to market with touch display nor one with a Retina Display. The same is true for laptop shoppers wanting pen support— the only choice is the Surface Pro 3.
Much has been said about Apple's premium pricing on MacBooks, but price is not much of a factor when comparing the MacBook Air with the Surface Pro 3. Similarly configured models are priced much the same between the two laptops.
In conclusion, for most laptop shoppers it comes down to platform. It’s long been OS X vs. Windows and that hasn’t changed. Otherwise, other than the particular areas covered where differences were noted, both laptops are very similar and comparably priced.
SANDISK HAS ANNOUNCED its latest entry to the consumer flash storage drive market.
The Sandisk Ultra Fit is a small USB 3.0flash drive designed to be "plug and stay", providing expanded storage to existing devices including laptops, games consoles, home entertainment systems and even car stereos.
The drive is about the same size as a small Bluetooth adapter, and compares to the USB 2.0 Sandisk Cruzer Fit launched last year.
Sandisk claims it is capable of transferring a movie in 40 seconds and is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities, with the 64GB version offering transfer speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 drives, and all offer read speeds of up to 130MBps.
Included with the Ultra Fit drive is Sandisk Secureaccess encryption software which protects files with 128-bit protection, and a year's subscription to Sandisk Rescuepro to recover lost or corrupted data.
"As a leader in the flash storage space, our goal has always been to deliver the best, most reliable products," said Sandisk director of product marketing Philippe Williams.
"While there are other USB 3.0 products on the market, SanDisk's Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drive offers consumers superior performance and impressive capacity in an extremely compact design."
Prices are yet to be announced, but a quick perusal of a popular shopping website (a river runs through it) shows the 16GB at £14.00, with the 32GB at £22.80 and the 64GB at £51.50.
Sandisk has had a busy year already, having announced the Sandisk Extreme Pro SDHC/SDXC UHS-II Card - the first U3 card, a new classification for 4K video - and a 128GB version of its Sandisk Ultra Micro SDXC card - the first to break the 128GB barrier.
The wait is over. We now know that there will be a big Apple event on September 9 2014.
Apple is holding a large press event where the iPhone 6 is almost certainly being introduced. While the secretive Apple will not yet disclose the details of the event, history tells us that the iPhone 6 will make its debut with iOS 8 available for immediate download.
Traditionally, Apple has released a new phone every year at almost exactly the same time. Many people have therefore concluded that this will in fact be the launch date and all the details regarding the iPhone 6 will finally be released.
If the launch date does turn out to be September 9, then it is looking increasingly likely that the phone will go on sale on the Friday of the following week, as this is the pattern that Apple has followed when launching previous models.
Most likely iPhone 6 preorder and sales dates
According to Aaron Basil, Lead Mobile Application Developer at Ethervision,
If Apple’s iPhone launch history serves as any indicator, then people can expect to preorder the iPhone 6 starting Friday September 12 with the first wave of devices arriving in home and ready for sale at all outlets by September 19.
Further weight is given to this conclusion by the fact that it is rumored that staff in Apple stores have been told that they are unable to book off any annual leave surrounding these dates.
Don’t forget about iOS 8
To create as much buzz on September 9, Apple will also most likely release iOS 8 to the masses. This is a perfect way to transfer the excitement into the hands of current iPhone users so they are salivating to get a new (and most likely bigger screened) iPhone 6.
When iOS 8 is released then there are likely to be a number of new features that have deliberately been kept hidden from the public and iOS developers in beta builds in order to give people something to look forward to. This is a good way for Apple to build huge amounts of anticipation.
Because Apple is unlikely to hold an event just to announce iOS 8, this further lends to the reality of 9/9/14 being the date the iPhone 6 is announced.
APPLE IS OFFERING in-store screen repairs for theiPhone 5S in its UK stores for the first time.
Multiple websites have reported that Apple has brought itsiPhone 5S screen repair service to Europe, and the firm has confirmed this to The INQUIRER. Apple's Regents Street store in London told us that the service is available now priced at £119, with store staff able to carry out such a repair within one hour. The firm already offers a similar service for the iPhone 5C.
Previously those who had smashed their iPhone 5S screen would have to fork out €249 for an off-site repair, which could take days.
Apple has launched the programme in the UK just weeks ahead of its anticipated iPhone 6 launch, with an unveiling expected to take place in San Francisco on 9 September.
If speculation is to be believed, an in-store screen repair service might not be required for the iPhone 6, with the handset(s) expected to feature an "impossible to break" sapphire display. The screen has been the topic of multiple online leaks, which showed that Apple's new screen technology will be able to withstand keys, a knife and being stood on.
However, the sapphire display didn't fare so well when pitted against sandpaper, which managed to scuff the supposedly "scratch-proof" screen.
As well as an improved screen, the iPhone 6 - which reportedly will be available in 4.7in and 5.5in versions - is expected to boast a redesigned casing, a faster processor, a heart rate sensor, upgraded cameras and support for wireless charging.
Microsoft haslaunched a low budget phone 'Nokia 130', which can play music and videos but no internet capabilities, available for just 30NZ dollars.
The Nokia 130 comes in single and dual-SIM card varieties but does not have internet capabilities. Instead, it's optimized for playing music and videos.
The handset boasts up to 46 hours of music playback time and 16 hours of video playback. It can remain on standby without needing to charge for a month. Music and videos can be stored locally on the device with an SD card, and the phone itself can store up to 32 GB, Adweek reported.
The Nokia 130 also comes equipped with an FM radio, flashlight and 1.8-inch LCD display.
Microsoft understands the importance of hooking customers in developing markets, particularly Africa. Microsoft's Jo Har low said that Microsoft doesn't have any other project that can reach these consumers, the report said.
Samsung’s VP Kim Hyun-joon has revealed that the company is working on a smartphone with big display and another with different build materials. The big display hints at Galaxy Note 4 while a phone with different build material point at Samsung Galaxy Alpha that has been leaking lately over the internet. These are just guesses and the final output may be completely different.
Going by the current Galaxy Note series trend, we have seen Samsung making Note 1 with 5.3-inch display, Note 2 with 5.5 and Note 3 with 5.7-inch display size. If the company follows the same trend we may see the Note 4 with a 5.9-inch display. There are rumors that Samsung will have Quad HD resolution on the Note 4 smartphone along with fingerprint sensor and Retina scanner on board. Recently Samsung teased the usage of eye scanner on its upcoming phone but did not reveal the exact details.
Samsung VP also revealed that the company is working on revamping the low-to-mid range segment of smartphones with upgraded specs. This may be well implemented in India and could be a response to Xiaomi’s Mi3 launch. There are not many details available for the Note 4 smartphone but we surely know something about the metal clad Galaxy Alpha. The device is said to come with a 4.7-inch display with fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. It is likely to offer 32GB of built-in storage and would come with the latest Android KitKat OS on board along with updated Samsung TouchWiz. Lets wait for the official announcement on this subject to know more about these devices.
There are plenty of clone phones out there in market; some cloned phones are so much close to the original one that one would not hesitate buying the clone for a much lesser price. Till today clone phones were only about cheap price tag and replica of the popular flagship phones but Wico has manufactured an LG G3 look alike phone that is not beastly in specs but is one crazy of a clone.
The device is named as Wico C1 and measures 5.5-inch, it has a thin body like Gionee Elife S5.5, mere 5.5mm thick and comes with side bezels lesser than the LG G3. The company calls it the first borderless phone. The original LG G3 smartphone has a thickness of 8.9mm thickness and has all the latest tech on board.
The Wico C1 is not about high end specs and features, but this one is more about design and elegance. Here we can only imagine how a 5.5mm thin device with 5.5-inch display would feel in hands. The side bezels are almost removed from this device and thus we expect the overall size of the phone to be smaller than the LG G3. The Wico C1 packs a massive 3,050mAH battery for the power supply. The device is likely to come with Octa-Core MediaTek processor and 2GB RAM. Although the official specs are not out yet and we expect in the coming months the company would reveal them. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
Microsoft unveiled the Nokia Lumia 530 smartphone today, this is the first device from Microsoft post Nokia acquisition. The device is likely to cost less than the launch price of the Lumia 520 smartphone as it has relatively low end specs and features. The major drawback of the Lumia 530 is its fixed focus rear camera, which is likely to be criticized by reviewers around the world.
In terms of design this device merges the Lumia 630 and Lumia 520, it is not as curved as the Lumia 520 and also not has flat as the Lumia 630. The curves are minimized on the rear plastic shell and it manages to ditch the rear facing camera flash. Like the Lumia 630 this one also has the capacitive touch buttons embedded in the display, off screen buttons are now likely to be history for Nokia.
This smartphone comes with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS and is powered by a 1.2GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon 200 processor paired with 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB ROM on board and as you would expect it has a micro SD card slot for memory expansion. The display on the device has an 854x480 pixels resolution and measure 4-inches diagonally. It is likely to come in Dual SIM variant soon, the Dual SIM functionality on the device offers call waiting and forwarding on both the SIM cards at the same time. There is no front facing camera on this smartphone but it has a decent 1,430mAH battery for the power supply.
Nokia Lumia 520 was launched with a price tag of Rs 9,000, we expect the Lumia 530 to cost around Rs 7,000 initially during the launch. We are not very much happy with the launch of this device, let us know your reaction on this one below in the comment box.
Oppo forayed in the Indian smartphone market with its N1 smartphone. The Oppo N1 smartphone is the world’s first ever smartphone to come with a swivel camera that doubles as a front camera with a simple twist. Now the company is up for launching a smaller size variant of its popular N1 smartphone in India. The original N1 smartphone has a massive 6-inch display, also the rotating camera technology adds a little more height and weight to the device so overall the device is much bigger than other smartphones with the same display size.
The Oppo N1 mini will come with a 5-inch 1280x720 pixel display with a density of 294PPI. It will use a Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor for the power and 2GB RAM for smoother multitasking. It will also have Adreno 320 GPU for graphic rendering and 16GB built in storage for media storage.
Like the larger N1 this one will also have a 13-MP primary camera that can be roated back and front and used as a front facing camera too. The camera software on the device has an Ultra HD mode which will produce 24-MP pictures with the same 13-MP camera. The power on the device will be delivered from a 2,140mAH battery abode. We are excited to see this device in action and are eagerly waiting to test the Ultra HD feature of the camera. Let us know what you feel about this smartphone?
There have been plenty of rumors about the Windows Phone OS variant of the popular HTC One M8 smartphone. But nothing solid appeared until today when the press render of the HTC One M8 running Windows Phone 8 OS surfaced on the internet. Not many changes practically in terms of design except for that in the home screen capacitive buttons. The Android version comes with keys suitable for Android OS while the one with Windows comes with Windows home button, back and search keys.
Nothing is announced officially and we expect no changes in terms of the hardware. It is likely to come with Dual Rear cameras to get the depth details in the images. The official announcement may come on 19th this month followed by its launch on Verizon on 21st.
The original HTC One M8 comes with Android KitKat and Dual rear facing cameras on board. The dual camera setup allows real time lytro like photography on a smartphone. One can change the focus even after clicking the photos. Something that we have already seen in Nokia refocus apps, but that uses some software gimmick to change the focus while in the HTC One M8 it is totally a hardware magic. Other specs of the device include Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB built-in storage and up to 128GB memory expansion.
We are relying completely on official announcement to know the exact specs of the device with Windows Phone OS. Keep watching this space for more updates.
Xolo recently announced the HIVE UI for its smartphones, and the first one to wear this UI is the Xolo 8X-1000 smartphone. The company has now launched another device, Xolo Play 8X-1200 with the same UI and latest specs on board for a price of Rs 19,999. Xolo has been one of the few companies in India to offer premium looking smartphones for a budget price but now given the scenario in India, the prices of budget phones should further go down to lure the buyers in the country.
Xiaomi’s wild entry in the market with its flagship Mi3 smartphone for a price of Rs 14,000 will be making other manufacturers break their heads to bring down the prices of their phones. Right now the price of the Xolo Play 8X-1200 is little higher than the current trend and people would rather wait and buy the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone.
The Xolo Play 8X-1200 comes with a 2GHz MediaTek Octa-Core processor paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It has the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS covered with Hive UI. There is Dual SIM support along with Dual Standby. A 2,300mAH battery powers this device. There is 3G, 2G, WiFi and Bluetooth in the connectivity spectrum on this smartphone. On photography front the Xolo Play 8X-1200 houses a 13-MP rear and 5-MP front facing camera. Let us know if you like this smartphone from Xolo.
Oppo unveiled the N1 Mini smartphone for India recently. The device is likely to hit the shelves in India on August 11th. The N1 Mini will come with a rotating swivel camera just like the taller N1 smartphone. The company has released an update saying that readers should block the date and day for an important announcement from Oppo Mobile India.
Oppo launched the N1, Find 7 and Find 7a recently in India. All these devices are flagship variants and have features unique to them. The original Oppo N1 smartphone has a massive 5.9-inch display and a rotating camera that can be used a front and as a rear camera.
The Mini variant would not dump the rotating camera but it certainly gets some slashed specs and size. The Oppo N1 mini has a 5-inch 720p display and the 13-MP rotating camera sits on top. The processor on this device comes with 1.6GHz of clock speed with 4 active cores and is paired with 1GB RAM. Oppo also praises this smartphone for having an Ultra HD mode than can generate 24-MegPixel photos with the same 13-MP camera.
We will be checking out this device with great excitement as we also expect it to have the rear touch panel like the bigger Oppo N1. Let’s see how the final product comes out. Stay tuned!
After its wildly welcomed entry in India Xiaomi has now unveiled the Redmi Note 4G. This phablet is likely to launch in India in a couple of months as Xiaomi is getting a lot of demand for its devices in the country. Earlier Xiaomi launched the Mi3 in India which has proved to be a best seller for the company. Now it has Redmi 1S in tow for the launch. The Redmi 1S will launch with a price tag of Rs 7,000 in India.
With this aggressive pricing from Xiaomi you can expect the price of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G will be around Rs 12,000 only. The Redmi Note 4G comes with a Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor paired with 2GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 8GB and allows memory expansion via Micro SD cards. The device has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels along with a 13-MP f/2.2 rear camera like the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone.
There are not many smartphones in India with 4G LTE built-in on them. The Galaxy S5 recently launched in India also does not have 4G LTE on board. We understand 4G LTE in India has not reached a great level but certainly the demand for 4G network will rise in the coming year. Let us know what is your take on the Redmi Note 4G.
Motorola is on the verge of launching its next generation Moto X smartphone. The device is dubbed as Moto X+1 smartphone. It is the successor of the Moto X smartphone launched a year ago. The Moto X launched last year was a very good device with average specs but brilliant user experience. Looking at the current trend, which mostly goes by high specs, the company has decided to beef up the Moto X series with the latest X+1 smartphone.
The Moto X+1 looks a beast on paper with its top notch specs; it has a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 32/64GB storage and 5.2-inch full HD display. Other details of the device are scarce right now and we expect the final details to leak out soon.
The Moto X originally came with a Dual-Core processor and 2GB RAM without memory expansion option. The Moto X+1 will be placed above Moto X and will be the flagship of Motorola for this year. The device will again not have a micro SD card slot but OTG is certainly on its list. The specs come in light courtesy of Geekbench, a popular benchmarking website which almost every major manufacturer uses to check out the benchmarks of its products.
Are you interested in Motorola’s flagship this year? Let us know your first impressions of the specs of the Moto X+1 smartphone.
Nokia announced the Lumia 530 smartphone recently but the company did not announce the price. It just gave a hint that the price of the device will be under Rs 8000 category but Indian online retailer Snapdeal has already put this device for preorder on their site. Snapdeal while skipping mention of the price, has said that the device will start selling in the 3rd week of August.
The Nokia Lumia 530 is the successor model of the popular Lumia 520 and Lumia 525 smartphones. In terms of specs it is not a true successor of the Lumia 525 smartphone, the specs are lower end and Nokia has cut down heavily on internal storage department.
Lumia 530 would come with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS and will have 4GB ROM on board. Like Lumia 520 this one too will have 512MB of RAM, the rear camera will have the same 5-MP resolution but the focus will be fixed. There is no front facing camera on this device and it will have a 1,430mAH battery for power supply. Connectivity options are to include Dual SIM slots, 3G, Wifi and Bluetooth.
What do you think has Nokia done with the Lumia 530? Has it failed to bring a true successor or is it just a smart move to provide cheap smartphone? Let us know your reactions.
LG may be prepping the launch of the LG L60 smartphone. The device was recently spotted on its official site in Russia. It is likely to be a budget smartphone with a 4.3-inch WVGA display and would come with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat Operating System on board. Like other budget smartphones in the market this one too comes with entry level specs and features.
Other than a compact display and Android KitKat the LG L60 also has a 5-MP rear facing camera with LED flash and a front facing VGA resolution camera for photography and video calling respectively. The specs of this smartphone are similar to the LG L65 launched recently. This device will carry the legacy of L series of smartphone ahead with its Dual SIM feature on board.
It is powered by a 1.3GHz Dual-Core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB ROM. It allows memory expansion by up to 32GB using micro SD cards and has 3G on board for faster internet connections on the go. We speculate the device to come in India with a price tag not exceeding Rs 9,000. If so then this device will compete with other budget smartphones that come with MedaiTek processor on board.
Are you up for this device from LG? Or you were expecting a little more like the LG G3 smartphone? Let us know what you feel about this one.
Celkon, the Indian budget smartphone manufacturer, is planning to launch the Millennium Ultra Q500 smartphone this month. Celkon had earlier launched multiple budget friendly smartphones in India targeting all age categories. Now with Millennium Ultra Q500 the company is targeting KitKat lovers.
The latest Millennium Q500 from Celkon comes with Android KitKat OS on board and has a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The display is based on One-Glass-Solution and has a Quad-Core processor (likely to be MediaTek SoC), there is 2GB RAM on board to handle multitasking efficiently and it has 16GB built-in storage.
The device will have a micro SD card slot for memory expansion and it will be priced around Rs 9,000 in India. Preorder for this device begins exclusively on Flipkart starting 14 August. Sales will begin on 24th August. This device will take the budget smartphone market with a storm. Recently Wickedleak launched a smartphone with similar specs but Octa-Core processor and priced it at Rs 8,490. The price war in India is likely to benefit customers. What do you think about this price war in India? Will it bring down the prices of popular brands too? Give us your thoughts on this.
Motorola launched the Moto G smartphone and created a buzz globally. The device sold for a very attractive price and came down with every possible feature that was possible for that price and size. Moto G broke multiple records of sale in India and we already know that the company is working on Moto G2 smartphone. Although there is nothing hardcore known about the device but like its predecessor the G2 smartphone is likely to continue the legacy of low price and high end features.
The Motorola Moto G was launched in March in India. It was sold with an exclusive Flipkart partnership. Flipkart sold more than 1 lakh Moto G in India in a few months, so much so that every time new stock came in, the company would soon go out of stock. The phone continues to sell in India successfully and with a recent price cut of Rs 2,000 Moto G became even more attractive.
Now that companies are offering much better specs and features than Moto G for a price equal to it we expect Motorola to launch the G2 soon in India. A new leak about the Moto G2 has appeared on the internet which suggests that it will have a 720P display with 5-inch measurement. Other specs like 1.2Ghz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400, 1GB RAM, 8-MP rear and 2-MP front facing cameras have also been revealed.
Are you guys up for Motorola Moto G2 smartphone? Let us know what you think about this smartphone.
Motorola created a lot of buzz with its low price Moto G last year. The company is now prepping for the launch of the successor of the Moto G smartphone. The device is allegedly known as Moto G2, though the official and final name of the device is yet not revealed everyone is using the Moto G2 name to refer this device. The Moto G2 comes with features and specs identical to the Moto G and has minor upgrades over the older Moto G smartphone.
The device leaked yesterday for the first time revealing a Moto E like design philosophy and the Moto branding on the top left corner. The placement of logo might as well get some praise from buyers but we find the device a little weird. The top of the display looks more cluttered in the new design as a lot of space is occupied with the metal covering for the in-call speaker and moto logo on the left of it. The front facing camera is placed on the right side with a black out graphics hiding something under it. The hidden part may be a new sensor or a front facing flash, you never know.
We take a look at this device and show the upgrades it has got over its predecessor.
Specs
Nothing much changed in this area except for the upgraded 8-MP rear facing camera, the design is little different from the older Moto G as it features the new placement of loud speaker and a steel coating over it, may be for protection or something. It has a Quad-Core processor and 1GB RAM along with a 720p display (size is still a mystery), we expect the display size to be of 5-inches. The battery on the device is likely to be non user removable and the interchangeable back panels may on the desk for this device too.
Price
Motorola launched the Moto G in India with a price of Rs 12,999 and 13,999 for 8GB and 16GB memory respectively. The older Moto G did not have a micro SD slot and that flaw may be taken care on this device. The expected price of this device is a difficult thing to guess as recently Xiaomi entered the Indian market with Mi3 for a dirt cheap price and it competes with Moto G directly. The Mi3 is a high end flagship phone from Xiaomi and beats every aspect of Moto G smartphone. SO may be to stay with market’s pace the company may price this smartphone around 11K. However this is just a guess based on market analysis and the final price may turn out somewhere between 11K and 15K.
